Western Hills Inpatient Care Center

In order to expand comprehensive hospice care options beyond home care and long-term care services currently provided to the West Side, Hospice of Cincinnati opened the first hospice inpatient care center in Western Hills in November 2002. The 15-bed Inpatient Care Center, located on the fifth floor of Mercy Franciscan Hospital, is modeled after Hospice of Cincinnati's Blue Ash location.

"The opening of a dedicated full-service inpatient hospice facility on the West Side of Cincinnati is a long overdue and sorely needed health care service for our patients and their families," remarks David Wiltse MD, Executive Medical Board, Mercy Franciscan Hospital Western Hills. "Both patient and family make a spiritual, physical and emotional transition as the patient passes from this life to eternal life, one that is arduous and deserving of the full attention of highly-skilled, experienced health care professionals," Dr. Wiltse says.

Currently, Hospice of Cincinnati is caring for more than 550 patients a day through inpatient care centers, home care and long-term care programs. The Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Western Hills comforts and cares for terminally ill patients with acute symptoms that cannot be managed at home.

Each of the inpatient rooms are private in order to provide ample space for family and friends.
